Introduction

"Internationalization is broadly defined as a movement to facilitate the use of the web
by all people across the globe."
(Kathy Rutkowski).

Internationalization

It resulted from the change to a global economy, increased use of Internet as an informational resource, international communication tool, and teaching and learning tool, national laws requiring governmental agencies to make their web sites more ADA compliant, and other changes in the perception of ourselves and the world. In addition, global Internet usage is predicted to grow to a billion users worldwide by 2005 with 90% of US households having Internet access. Increased global usage has ramifications for web designers and developers.

This presentation offers universal design criteria, and provides additional resources for further research.
