More updates!

I've finally set up the PayPal link on the far right side of the page, under the Links section. If you would like to pay your dues online (or make donations to the chapter...), you may do so through this link.

I've also updated the Rush Events calendar, the Chapter Roster (added Alpha Omicron!), and the Eboard page. Unfortunately, pictures of the Eboard are temporarily M.I.A., but that issue will be resolved as soon as possible.

I will soon update the video page and the calendar, so keep tight!

Rush has finally started, and we are all so excited! :)

Graduation and Awards

This is terribly belated--I know--but better late than never!

The AE Chapter would like to congratulate the following sisters on their graduation this last spring of 2007:

Janisa Camacho, Alpha Class
BS Forensic Science

Francesca Escamilla, Alpha Class
BBA Human Resources Management

Alessa Hurtado, Beta Class
MS Communication Sciences and Disorders

Nicole Muriithi, Epsilon Class
BS Biology

Zandra Peña, Beta Class
MS Communication Sciences and Disorders

Claudia Tijerina, Beta Class
BA International Studies

At this last KΔX National Conference, the AE Chapter was awarded the National Foundation Award for being the chapter that earned the most money for our National Foundation, benefitting the American Cancer Society, this last year!

Also at our National Conference, our sister Juana Mora, Delta Class, received The President's Volunteer Service Award, Bronze Level, for contributing ONE HUNDRED HOURS of her time to the Waco community this year! We in this Chapter are so proud of Juana, and we wish her the best of luck at the Baylor University School of Nursing!

The rest of the website will soon be updated with the new Executive Board for the 2007-2008 school year, a new calendar, a link to PayPal for dues and donations (wink wink), and RUSH EVENTS! Keep on the lookout!

Faculty alum and Charter sister receives award

At the annual Student Life Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, our sister, Taryn Ozuna, received the Rising Star for Outstanding New Professional Award for her work as the Coordinator for Multicultural Activities. She began serving the student body as the coordinator about two years ago after she received both her B.S. and her M.S. (Family & Consumer Sciences, and Education, respectively) here at Baylor, and after going back to her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, here and there and in between. She is a Charter sister of Kappa Delta Chi and currently serves as one of our Faculty Advisors.

The sisterhood, as well as the organizations and separate entities of Multicultural Activities and the Baylor family, is proud of Taryn and all of her accomplishments. We are terribly proud and rightfully humbled to call her our sister. Congratulations Taryn, and thank you for all that you do!

Eta Sigma Gamma and Kente Ceremony

We would like to congratulate our sister, Amanda Frail (Delta Class), on her acceptance into Eta Sigma Gamma, an honor society for community health students. Not only was she asked to be a part of this honor society, but she is also a founding member of the Baylor chapter! We wish Eta Sigma Gamma the best, and we know Amanda will do great things for this organization.

Graduation is coming up soon, and so is the annual Kente Ceremony put on by the brothers of Omega Psi Phi. The Kente Ceremony is a graduation ceremony in the African-American tradition. This year, one of our sisters, Nicole Muriithi (Epsilon Class) will be in the graduation, so come out to Truett Chapel at 3:30 PM on Sunday and support Nicole!

School's almost over, ladies--push on!

Epsilon Class Presents and GOOD NEWS!

Epsilon Class' Presents last night was TREMENDOUS! The girls really did a good job, and the hard work they put into their performance was evident. And what's more, we had a special visit from the Chi Chapter at UTSA, which was really exciting!

All in all, great work, Epsilon Class!

GOOD NEWS: All four Founders have registered for this year's Conference at the Delta Chapter at Arizona! Now if that isn't reason enough to register, I don't know what is!

I would also like to announce that this chapter now has a Myspace, so hurry and add our AE Chapter as a friend!

We have two Informationals coming up next week, so keep posted for more information!

KDChi Wins Two Awards at Annual Awards Ceremony

KDChi never fails to make an impression and this was proven yet again last night! Our sisters were invited to the annual Student Organization and Leadership Awards Ceremony and were presented with two awards:

Standards of Excellence Award: Scholarship
Outstanding Greek Leader: Estee Hernandez (Gamma Class)

The first of the two awards is highly competitive, because it is not limited to Greek organizations, but it is an award open to all of the 350-some organizations on Baylor campus, and is also among the most coveted awards of the whole night (the second to last award granted!). Along with the lovely glass trophy, we also received $250 toward the organization!

The Outstanding Greek Leader award is given to a handful of Greeks from all four councils that represent a well-rounded Greek in all facets: enthusiasm, leadership, service, academics, and so forth. Estee was the only member of a minority Greek organization to receive the award this year, and we are terribly proud of her! (It is so weird writing this in the third person.)

Our presence last night was definitely felt, and we were among the best Baylor has to offer as far as student organizations go. KDChi has definitely grown and prospered since its chartering three years ago, and we are still constantly striving for the best. Our efforts seem to finally be coming to fruition, and we look towards the future with tremendous anticipation. Way to go sisters, and keep representing the letters with pride!

Greek Week Awards 2006-2007 Winners!

KDChi received three awards tonight at the finale of Baylor's Greek Week event: the Greek Awards Ceremony!

Most Improved GPA
Outstanding Junior of the Year: Sapora Bradley (Delta Class)
Outstanding New Member of the Year: Carmen Contreras (Epsilon Class)

This is a tremendous accomplishment for the chapter, as it is our first time ever participating in said awards ceremony, and we were also the only multicultural sorority to have received any awards! Congratulations to our sisters, and way to go girls!
