Volunteer and Become Part of the Magic
Volunteers at the Historic Village play a crucial role in fulfilling the Village mission to preserve and interpret nineteenth century rural life. The Village staff is looking for dedicated volunteers to assist in the following ways.
Experience Volunteerism at the Historic Village
- Welcome our visitors at the Town Hall as they embark on a Village journey.
- Guide school tours.
- Demonstrate traditional crafts.
- Interpret daily life for special weekend or school programs.
- Work in the heirloom garden doing seasonal tasks such as: planting, weeding, and pruning.
- Assist the Village carpenter in renovating historic structures in the Village.
- Sew historically accurate costumes in your own home.
- Prepare craft kits for school tours and summer camps. This job may be done at home.
- Help to organize and prepare materials for mailing.
Volunteers make history come to life at the Village both behind the scenes and in full view of visitors. How is the Village mission to preserve and interpret rural life from more than one hundred years ago important to those of us who lead busy lives each day here in the twenty-first century? Perhaps this mission invites us to relive aspects of our own lives. Or perhaps it beckons us to pass our heritage on to new generations. It may be as simple as telling the story of our past with exuberance and joy. If you are one of the special people who want to make our mission your mission, please call Dinah Siemon at 710-1160 or plan to attend the Village Volunteers’ training day in the church.
We also have an electronic volunteer form (Volunteer Form).
