Susan L. Senecah (Ph.D. Communication, 1992, University of Minnesota) Dr. Senecah is an associate professor in the Environmental Studies Department at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse. Since 1992 she has also served as a Special Assistant for Environmental Policy in the New York State Senate and is a practicing environmental mediator/facilitator and trainer. She is also the associate director of the environmental sector of Syracuse University's Program on the Analysis and Resolution of Conflicts. Dr. Senecah's research, teaching, and practice interests are the communication dynamics and process of multi-party environmental decision making. This includes environmental dispute resolution, public participation processes, collaborative processes, and environmental movement history. She was a leading effort in establishing the Environmental Communication Commission in the National Communication Association and served two terms as its first president. She is a popular speaker and presenter at governmental, nongovernmental, and professional conferences. She also consults at the federal, state, and local levels about decision making and governance strategies.
