William Baker is the Founding Director and Vice Chair of the IMPACT Coalition. IMPACT is an acronym for Improving Mentor Practices and Communication Techniques The Coalition is a nonprofit career development organization which enhances the educational opportunities of urban students through training in debate and workplace dynamics. He teaches at NYU in the Culture and Communication Department and coaches speech and debate for a coalition of schools including NYU, Columbia and Queens College. Mr. Bakers serves as the Main United Nations representative for the International association for Religious Freedom and was their North American Coordinator until assuming his position at IMPACT. He served as the Chief Management Officer for the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office and as management consultant with several other non-profit organizations whose specialties include immigrant services, women's rights, environmental issues and youth development and electronic communication. He is a member of the Cultural Diversity Committee of the National Society of Fundraising Executives (NSFRE). For two years, he was an Assembly District Leader for the 27th District in Queens. His earlier positions included Special Consultant to the Binghamton Debate Society and director of Rhetorical Scholarship Laboratories at Cornell University. |
