- Recruitment
Each Spring we look forward to meeting new girls and welcoming those
that meet our criteria into our sisterhood. Fall parties are a quick
way for you to meet girls in each sorority and for us to meet you. Formal
Recruitment in January includes parties that help you know a little
more about each sorority through Slide Show Day, Skit Day, and Preference
Day. Have questions? Email our Vice Presidents of
Recruitment.
- Bid Day
Bid day is the last day of Formal Recruitment when girls receive invitations
to join a sorority. After welcoming the new member class of Alpha Chi,
the entire chapter goes out to lunch to celebrate. This gives everyone
a chance to get acquainted in Alpha Chi.
- Big Sister Revelation
As a tradition in greek organizations, new members are given big sisters
who will act as mentors. After receiving gifts all week from their anonymous
big sister, new members finally find out who she is, as well as the
rest of their Alpha Chi family.
- Service Projects
Contributing numerous hours each year to Waco's community, Alpha
Chi ranks as one of the university's top organizations for service.
From cooking dinner for the Waco Family Abuse Center to working within
the Waco community, Alpha Chi has service projects every member can
be involved in. Check out our service page
for more info!
- New Member Presentation
Parents come to see their daughters formally presented as Alpha Chi's,
hear about their new sisterhood, and enjoy a luncheon in the new member's
honor. This gives the parents of Alpha Chi a chance to experience our
sisterhood firsthand.
- New Member Dance
To celebrate the initiation of new members, we have a dance in their
honor. Our new sisters present their New Member Songs at
the dance and everyone has fun dressing up in costumes and dancing the
night away. This is the first social function for our new members attend
as an official part of Alpha Chi.
- Semi-Formal/Formal
Each semester we have a formal dance and semi-formal. This is a chance
for our sisters to socialize in a formal setting. Every function has
a theme, with live music, food, and decorations to match!
- Crush
Crush is an event where each girl invites her guy friends to hang out
with our sisters at one big party. With Paint Your Date in the fall
or Foam in the spring, Alpha Chi crushes over 1000 guys each semester.
T-shirts are hand delivered by the Alpha Chi the night before the event
to officially invite the guys.
- Greek Week
Each April all of the Greeks come together for a friendly competition.
We all go see a movie together, participate in relay games, and see
what sorority and fraternity has the most spirit. For the second year
Alpha Chi Omega was the winner overall. The last night of Greek Week
is an awards ceremony in which we also won: Panhellenic Spirit Points,
Abner McCall Service Award, and the Herbert H. Reynolds Award of Fraternal
Merit. Also two of our members received the Outstanding Greek Leader
Award and the Panhellenic Scholarship.
- Sing
Every year Alpha Chi participates in Baylor's All-Univeristy SING. All
the long hours of planning, creating backdrops and sets, choreographing,
vocalizing and practicing are all worthwhile when our sisters get the
chance to represent our chapter in this annual Baylor tradition. Alpha
Chi was proud to take our act "Casting Call" to Pigskin 2005.
- Float
Every Homecoming Alpha Chi joins up with fraternity
to build a float for the homecoming parade. We work together for several
months constructing the float. Though we're working hard, we get spend
time with each other as well as getting to know the guys in the fraternity.
This past year we were excited to team up with Pi Kappa Phi to create
a float with a theme of Big XII Graveyard.
- Intramurals
Alpha Chi competes in the Gold Division for intramurals.
This is the top division of intramurals for Panhellenic Organizations.
We do it all from, flag football to bowling. You can always find Alpha
Chi's playing on the field or cheering in the stands!
- Apple Pie With Alpha Chi's
Each Spring Alpha Chi's invite their professors to enjoy tea and
apple pie in their honor. This gives us an opportunity to recognize
our favorite professors and faculty, and thank them for their hardwork.
- Date Dash
Each fall, there is a surprise event planned for Alpha Chi by the social
chairs. The girls are only given an hour to find a date and show up
at the location. This usually comes as an exciting break for everyone
and a chance to do something fun with your sisters. Some of the past
Date Dashes have been bowling, putt putt golf, and cook outs.
- Take-A-Date
Each spring our members and their dates enjoy a laidback event like
a trip to Six Flags in Arlington or the drive-in movie in Gatesville.
