Alpha Delta Pi Foundation

The work of the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, Inc. began more than 150 years ago when our founders chose the open motto, "We live for each other." This motto has guided young women into their adult lives and created the awareness that we, as a sisterhood, can help one another and our communities.

That desire to help Sisters and our communities led to the establishment of The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, Inc. in 1983. The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) corporation which accepts tax-deductible gifts. The foundation has experienced tremendous growth in its brief history, and through generous donations from our Sisters, proudly celebrates more than $2.7 million in assets. The mission of the Foundation is to provide resources for educational, leadership and philanthropic opportunities for women, and to improve the lives of women and the communities in which they serve.

Money raised through the Annual Fund Campaign and other fund raising programs are then utilized to provide a variety of opportunities that benefit Alpha Delta Pi and its members, as well as, the community at large.

In the past year, the Foundation has distributed monetary support to the following causes:

• $51,900 to Alpha Delta Pi Sisters enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education scholarships to 51 collegians and alumnae.
• $9,000 in Abigail Davis Emergency grants to help 9 undergraduate Sisters to remain in school.
• $8,500 in Clasped Hands Fund Emergency grants to 5 alumnae Sisters facing severe financial hardship.
• $12,000 grant to Alpha Delta Pi funded speakers at each of the six District Leadership Conferences.
• $25,000 grant to IMPACT, an Alpha Delta Pi leadership program for collegians.
• $150,000 pledged to operate the UMASS Medical Center Care mobile health van that provides on-site health and dental care to underserved communities.
• Funding provided to produce an educational video on Alpha Delta Pi's philanthropy work for the Ronald McDonald Houses.
• With pride in our heritage, the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation also supports maintenance of the Adelphean Room in the Cannon Ball House Museum in Macon, Georgia, where Alpha Delta Pi was founded in 1851 at Wesleyan Female College. Historic memorabilia true to the period of the founders is displayed for public viewing in the Adelphean Room.

The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation was supported this past year through donations from more than 3,000 of our sisters, friends, chapters, and alumnae associations. Because our Sisters care, the foundation is able to provide immediate benefit to those in need, as well as lay the groundwork for their future educational, professional, and personal successes of Alpha Delta Pi members.
