VISION, MISSION, &
 PHILOSOPHY

STATEMENT ADOPTED 11/21/96

Vision

We envision a Texas where all medical and health care professionals, across the broad range of services they render and the expansive geographic regions in which they live and work, have access to the teaching and learning resources necessary to provide the highest quality health care for Texas citizens.

Mission

Members of the TxDLA TeleHealth Special Interest Group (TH Group) welcome the challenge in the medical and health care arena that is placed before us by TxDLA's mission: To be the premiere statewide organization in Texas for promoting the sensible application of telehealth technologies and distance learning strategies; maximizing access, equity, and quality medical and health care educational resources for teachers and learners of all ages.

Philosophy

In reaching toward that vision, we are dedicated to and reliant upon these essential TxDLA philosophies:

The TH Strategic Planning Work Group developed this statement of the TH Group's vision, mission, and philosophy. The Planning Work Group also developed a 1996-97 Work Plan that sets current goals for the TH Group and outlines strategies to help us meet those goals. This plan was approved during the TH Group's regularly scheduled meeting on November 21, 1996. Also during this meeting, the following 1996-97 Work Focus Leaders were nominated and assigned:

Members are encouraged to participate in Work Focus activities by contacting the the Leader(s) for the Work Focus(es) in which they have an interest.

TeleHealth Directory

In January, 1996, the Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA) TeleHealth Special Interest Group (TH Group) formed a TeleHealth Information Task Force to investigate options for producing a guidemap to Texas' telehealth locations, connections, and programmatic resources. In keeping with TxDLA's overall goal of providing information clearinghouse services to its members and their constituencies, our objective is to make available easy-access, easy use information resources for Texas' telehealth community.
