RESEARCH INTERESTS

My ongoing research focuses on individual similarities and differences in the formation and maintenance of close relationships. Some specific topics of interest to me include:

1. the use of deception in dating relationships,

2. qualities that attract and repel individuals seeking to form short-term versus long-term relationships, and

3. impression management people perform for their relationship partners, a process I call "other-monitoring."

I also have an interest in the psychology of religion.
