Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Collection

Semester Project, Fall 2004
The Ronald McDonald House Charities program offers housing to the families of children who have come a long distance for medical treatment. The idea is to help ease the emotional and financial burden for these families who experience having an extremely ill child.

The Pop Tab Collection program started in 1987 in Minnesota to raise funds for the operation of the Ronald McDonald Houses. The pop tabs are a more pure form of aluminum than the rest of the can, and thus they are worth more to recycle per pound than the can itself. Also, pop tabs are easy to collect and do not require much room.
The Magellan Society has been saving can tabs for the entire Spring 2004 semester to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. The Baylor chapter of Habitat for Humanity and the Environmental Concern Organization has been helping us with acquiring tabs from can that are to be recycled. The tabless cans are still recycled to benefit that particular organization.
