“Are You GHANA Help?” Project and Fundraiser |
The Magellan Society is supporting an organization in Ghana, Africa called COLWOD (Collaboration with Women in Distress). This organization helps women and young girls who were prostitutes or sex slaves and teaches them craft skills such as dress and batik making so that these women may support themselves financially without having to revert to selling their bodies. Fortunately two of our members have lived in Ghana, and they have had personal contact with the nuns that run COLWOD. |
In order to raise money for COLWOD, the Magellan Society is selling buttons with African Adinkra symbols for $1 each. Buttons will be sold in the Bill Daniel Student Center March 27-31, 2006. Additionally, members will attempt to promote the buttons at other organizations’ meetings, and individually among friends and classmates. All money raised will go directly to the COLWOD foundation. |
