1868-1879 Attended public school

1883 Graduated from Sam Houston Normal Institute

1885 Studied law and admitted to the state bar of Texas

1886-1887 Practiced law in Tyler

1888 Moved to Colorado City, Texas

1890 Married Francis Lipscomb Breedlove

1897-1903 Judge, 32nd Judicial District

1902 Elected as first U. S. Representative from newly created 16 District. Defeated Republican D. G. Hunt and D. H. Meeks.

1903-1917 Served in U. S. Congress

1904 Re-elected. Defeated Republican Logan McPherson

1906 Re-elected. Defeated Ben Vantuys and Socialist J. M. Ellis

1908 Re-elected. Defeated G. W. Boynton and Socialist P. G. Zimmerman

1910 Re-elected. Defeated Socialist W. H. Harvey and Republican Robert A. Webb

1912 Re-elected. Unopposed.

1914 Re-elected. Unopposed.

1916 Defeated by Thomas Blanton in Democratic primary.

1917 Appointed by President Wilson as U. S. District Court Judge. Western District

 Moved to El Paso.

1917-1924 Served as U. S. District C ourt Judge

1924 August 16. Died in El Paso. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
