Biographical Sketch

1902: Born in Yellow Pine sawmill camp near Many, Sabine Parish, Louisiana

1908: Moved to Henrietta, Clay County, Texas. Attended rural schools of Clay and Garza Counties

1924: Received A.B. from University of Texas

1927: Received L.L.B. from University of Texas Law School. Admitted to Texas Bar and began practice in Vernon,Texas

1933-1937: District Attorney, 46th Judicial District of Texas

1937: Moved to Wichita Falls

1938: Elected as Democrat to 76th Congress

1939: Married Mary Helen Mosely of Quanah, Texas (living in Dallas, 2002)

1939-1951: Member of Congress, 13th District of Texas, 76th-82nd Congresses .

Chairman, Committee on Elections No. 2, 77th through 79th Congresses.

1951, July 31, resigned from Congress, resumed law practice

1951-: General Attorney for Texas Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. Judge, Criminal District Court, Dallas, TX

1951-1967: General Attorney for Southwestern Bell Telephone

1968-1976: Criminal District Court Judge

1976-1985: Part-time Criminal District Court Judge

1990: November 6. Died in Dallas of a heart attack

Sons: Glenn and Stephen of Dallas; Murray of Amarillo

Daughters: Judy Breen, Reston, VA; Jan Farrar, San Antonio; Milissa Stamoulos, Thessalouiki, Greece

13 grandchildren (2001)
