Biographical Sketch

1903: Born Ovie Clark Fisher, November 22, near Junction, Kimble County, Texas to Jobe and Rhoda Clark Fisher

1910-1929: Attended public school in Junction, Texas, the University of Colorado, the University of Texas, and Baylor Law School

1929: Graduated from Baylor Law School and admitted to the bar, commenced practice in San Angelo, Texas. and engaged in ranching business

1931-1935: County Attorney, Tom Green County

1935-1937: Member of Texas House of Representatives

1937-1943: District Attorney, 51st Judicial District

1942: Elected as a Democrat to the 78th Congress and fifteen succeeding Congresses

1943-1974: Member of Congress from 21st Texas District serving in 78th through 93rd Congresses, January 3, 1943 to December 31, 1974

Married: Marion De Walsh, one daughter Rhoda (Mrs. James W. Grimes) four grandchildren
