This site provides information on electronic resources, both websites and software programs for teaching literacy skills. Browse online discussions of software, equipment and new technology for adult literacy.

Association of College & Research Libraries. Information Literacy and Instruction
The section on information literacy and instruction contains links to information literacy standards and guidelines for adult learners. Among the web sites included are: Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education; Objectives for Information Literacy Instruction: A Model Statement for Academic Librarians; and Characteristics of Programs of Information Literacy that Illustrate Best Practice: A Guideline.

National Assessment of Adult Literacy National Center for Education Statistics
Provides data on levels of literacy and rates of literacy in the United States. This site does not have teaching materials per se, but the data would be useful for policy making and program development.

National LINCS National Institute for Literacy
A gateway to adult education and literacy resources on the Internet. Areas of the country are divided into five categories, Western/Pacific, Northwest, Midwest, Eastern, and Southern. Sites are independent of one another and offer web sites, articles, local contact information, and even grant and funding opportunities. (Western/Pacific offers a unique tutorial for Teachers/Tutors to use under Learning Resources.)

ProLiteracy Worldwide
This literacy organization was formed by the merger of Laubach Literacy International and Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc. The site has links for both students and tutors, and information on how to find literacy programs in one’s area.
