CLEP Subject Examinations

The CLEP Subject Examinations measure achievement in specific subject areas. These exams require college-level knowledge and critical thinking ability; sufficient preparation is required to do well. CLEP tests are given at most colleges and universities nationwide. You can view a list of test centers from the CLEP website at http://www.collegeboard.com/clep/. Students should select Baylor as the score recipient if they are not testing on the Baylor campus.

As of July 1, 2001, all CLEP exams are now administered on computer (CLEP CBT). The examination is preceded by a tutorial that explains how to take the exam on computer. This tutorial may be downloaded from the CLEP website at http://www.collegeboard.com/clep/. CLEP CBT provides instant score results to test-takers, so you will know the day of the test how you performed. The fee for all CLEP exams is $50, payable by check or credit card, and the administrative fee is $15.

The table below indicates the minimum scores required for receiving credit at Baylor University. Please note that the required score for the paper-based exams (prior to July 1, 2001) may differ from the required score for the computer-based exams. CLEP exams are administered by appointment only. To schedule a testing date at Baylor University, contact the Office of Information Management and Testing Services at 254-710-2061.
