Sports Medicine

Athletic Training at Baylor University consists of two complimentary elements: the academic component and the service component.

The academic component of athletic training at Baylor University is through the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation. Baylor University offers a CAATE accredited undergraduate major in athletic training for students interested in becoming Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) and pursuing careers in athletic training.  Students enrolled in the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) gain first hand experience working with student-athletes at Baylor University through the service program as well as gaining clinical experience at off-campus sites.

The service component of athletic training at Baylor University is through the Department of Athletics. A staff of 7 full-time ATCs along with 4 certified graduate assistants, orthopedic team physicians and a number of other allied health and medical professionals provide on-site daily health care for 16 men's and women's sport teams.
