My wedding to Paul was one of the happiest days of my life. This is a picture of me in the ao dai I wore for my wedding reception. An ao dai is the traditional outfit worn in Viet Nam.

Welcome to my homepage.
If you've wandered by, you are probably wondering who I am and what I do for a living. I work for Moody Memorial Library at Baylor University. I have worked for the libraries since my freshman year as a student worker at the Social Sciences and Humanities Reference Department. I graduated from Baylor University in 1998 with a BSFCS, but decided not to pursue that field.. Current plans include pursuing a Masters in computer programming just as soon as I can find a day stretcher so I can fit it into my schedule. Until then, I guess I'll just have to muddle through on my own...
Current projects include creating and maintaining the Circulation and Reserve web pages for Moody Memorial Library. If I have overlooked an area, please let me know.
Can't get to the library and want to renew your items online?
Want to know if your professor has placed something on reserve?
My first programming experience came from a class I took in Jr. High. I was introduced to the wonderful language, BASIC, on the Tandy TRS-80. (Don't bother looking it up, kids, it was a dinosaur when I used it...) I did not really get another chance to do any more programming until High School, where we used the incredible Tandy 1000TX (with a whole 800kb memory!) and I was introduced to the language Pascal. Since then, I have also taught myself HTML, C++, and am working on JAVA. One of these days I hope to get around to actually taking a class or two in these languages...I have discovered some interesting gaps in what I know.
My husband, Paul, and I met at the library (no...I'm not kidding). We were both student assistants for the Social Sciences and Humanities Reference Desk at the time. Paul is currently working on his degree.
I enjoy listening to music. My two favorite stations right now are KLTY (Safe and fun for the whole family, 94.9 FM) in Dallas, TX and KSBJ ( Reminding you God listens, 89.3 FM) in Houston, TX.

I love animals, both real and virtual. Paul and I both believe that all pets should be spoiled, and tend to adopt strays until loving homes can be found for them.
Not sure what I mean about virtual pets? Visit my pet aisha, I just love Neopets!

Not sure what Neopets is? Allow me to tell you a little about it. Neopets is a fun, fantasy based virtual community (known as "Neopia") where users work with virtual animals known as Neopets. On this site, you play games to earn neopoints (np) which serve as the "currency" on the site in order to take care of your pet. Use these neopoints to spoil your pets with fantastic homes, buy them incredible weapons for the battledome, or even buy them the medicine they need when they fall ill. It serves as an interesting teaching tool for children. You can open a store and learn the basics of economics. Open a bank account and learn the principles of finance. You can even learn investment strategies by buying/selling stock in the stock market. One of the best things about this site is that it is free. Unlike some children sites that charge a monthly fee, Neopets is supported by advertisers in (usually) discrete ways. Another strong point is that the content on the site is engaging enough that parents can play right along with their children without being bored.
If you want to know more, perhaps you would be interested in taking a tour of Neopia, the world of Neopets. It is a great way to get a feel for the site and all the different areas/activities. I especially encourage parents not playing on the site to not only tour Neopia but to contact me if they have any questions about it.

This fact-based environment serves as an interesting teaching tool for children. Animal facts and education form the core setting. You can open a store and learn the basics of economics.
